Gates of Faith Ministries, Church of God in Christ, was born from a Home Prayer and Bible Study conducted by Elder Alfred L. Nicholson. Our group met in the dining room of his home on Wednesday nights until there was not enough room to accommodate. Afterwards we moved to Sister Catherine Goode’s home, continuing Wednesday Night meetings and added Sunday Morning Sunday School.
One Sunday morning Elder Nicholson stated that we needed to recognize the direction our group was heading. Then he announced that the setting was the making of a church, and not just a home Bible study group. He then asked how many would like to become members of a newborn church called Gates of Faith Ministries. At that time, there were approximately twenty people who consented to be members and some remain to this day.
